Eligibility Criteria for Delhi University MA

The eligibility criteria for an MA generally depend on the specialization and the college of your choice. The general eligibility criteria for the MA specialization is to have a bachelor’s degree in any field or a BA (Hons) in the specialization you want to choose. with a minimum percentage of 50% for general categories and 5% relaxation for other categories (SC, ST, and OBC).

Delhi University takes post-graduation admission in two forms: merit-based (Category 1) and entrance-based (Category 2).

  • Merit Basis (Category 1): This category is for Delhi University alumni students who have completed their graduation degree from DU and want to pursue a master's. For them, entrance is not mandatory; they can enroll on a merit basis.
  • Entrance Basis (Category 2): This category is for all those students who want to pursue their master's degree or higher degree from DU but have completed their bachelor’s from any other reputed college apart from DU. They need to successfully clear the CUET-PG entrance exam to enroll in Delhi University.

Admission Criteria for Foreign Students Selection Criteria

International applicants must fulfill specified requirements to be admitted to Delhi University's Master of Arts programs. This includes possessing an equivalent certification or an undergraduate degree from a university that has been accredited. Furthermore, passing standardized English language exams like the TOEFL or IELTS is required.  As part of the admissions process, the department may include extra academic requirements in its qualifying criteria for the MA program. Selection Procedure

Delhi University's MA Programme selection procedure is divided into two groups: 

Category 1 (Merit-Based): This category, which is exclusive to graduates of Delhi University, waives the admission exam requirement. Based on the merit list, graduates from Delhi University's associated colleges who choose to continue their education at the university after graduation can get direct admission. 

Entry-based Category 2: Available to all students hoping to continue their education at Delhi University after graduation. Candidates need to take the university admission test, and one of the requirements is a bachelor's degree from an approved council. Applicants wait to be considered for consideration after the admission exam until the entrance merit list results are released.
