Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

The requirements for admission to the M.Sc. program at Delhi University vary depending on your chosen institution or area of specialization. A bachelor's degree from any recognized council is generally required for admission to the M.Sc. program, coupled with a minimum percentage of 55% for general categories and 50% for reserved categories (ST, SC, and OBC). 

Delhi University offers 2 admissions pathways for this study, referred to as Category 1 (Merit Base) and Category 2 (Entrance Base). The M.Sc. program has specific requirements for qualifying for these two groups. 

Eligibility for Merit Base: 

Those students who have graduated from Delhi University choose to use the merit-based privileges. Those who graduated from Delhi University with a bachelor's degree and wish to pursue a master's degree can apply for direct admission based on merit. They must meet the prerequisites of obtaining a bachelor's (Hons) degree in the major topic they choose to specialize in, as well as the minimum percentage of 60% in each category.

Eligibility for Entrance Exam:

All students who wish to pursue a master's degree at Delhi University must take the admission test. Students must meet the fundamental requirements, which include having a bachelor's degree in the core topic they choose to specialize in and meeting the minimum percentage requirements of 50% for other categories (SC, ST, and OBC) and 55% for generals, to be admitted.

Note: The above are the general eligibility subject to change. So, for the M.Sc specialization programs and detailed eligibility criteria of all M.Sc specializations. It is advisable to visit the Delhi University’s affiliated college that offers this course.

Selection Procedure of DU M.Sc Program

The selection procedure for M.Sc Program at Delhi University is further divided into 2 Categories that are:

Category 1 (Merit Base): This category is for Delhi University’s alumni students to relax from the entrance exam. Those students who completed their graduation from Delhi University’s affiliated colleges now want to pursue the post graduation from Delhi University. They can take direct admission based on the merit list.

Category 2 (Entrance Base): This category is for all the students who want to pursue their post-graduation from Delhi University. All students can apply for the Delhi University’s entrance exam, the basic requirement for the entrance is to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized council. After the entrance exam, they need to wait for the entrance merit list score

Admission Criteria for Foreign Students Selection Criteria

For admission to the M.Sc. programs at Delhi University, overseas applicants must fulfill general prerequisites. International applicants must hold an undergraduate degree or a degree of equal value from an accredited university. People are required to present proof of their proficiency in the English language through standardized tests such as the TOEFL or IELTS.

As part of the admissions process, the department's eligibility for the M.Sc program may also include certain academic prerequisites. It is recommended that candidates check the relevant department's website for the precise qualifying requirements. The following are some requirements for those accepted into the Foreign Studies Registry (FSR):

  • Candidates who have citizenship of another country India.
  • Candidates who have the cards of OCI/PIO along with the other country's passport.
  • Candidates need to maintain their visa permit for the whole academic duration.
