Delhi University Will Establish Three Departments That Offers New B.Tech Programmes

The University of Delhi wants to start new programmes in the science stream with 120 seats for each B.Tech programmes. The UGC has sanctioned about 70 faculty positions for these three new departments. 

The University of Delhi wants to start three departments with each 120 seats programme for aspiring students. The University Grant Commission (UGC) has also authorized 70 faculty staff positions for each of three B.Tech programmes. 

DU (Delhi of University) has submitted a proposal to UGC (University Grant Commission) to start these three departments under the faculty of Technology that are, 

  • Computer Science 
  • Electronics and Communications 
  • Electrical Engineering

Students will be admitted to these three departments only through the clearing of JEE- Main (Joint Entrance Examination). The proposal of these departments will be brought to the Academic Council, meeting next month. DU has been planned or initiated since DCE and NSIT are no longer associated with the University. Hence it is no longer offers engineering programmes to students”. – Said by a senior official of Delhi University (DU). 

DU has also set up a drafting committee to design the entire course, which includes the curriculum, assessments, objectives, placement cell, content, structure, and schedule to plan out the whole B.Tech programme. The University of Delhi has announced their notification dated on November 05, to the constitution of the committee (DU) that was signed by Registrar Vikas Gupta. 

“This committee will be headed by D S Chauhan, a former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Uttar Pradesh Technical Committee. The VC has held one of the meetings related to the setup of departments and suggested the university commission to give a green flag to start these above-mentioned programmes as soon as possible for aspiring students who wants to take admission in Delhi University’s regular college. The final report of the drafting committee of DU has already submitted the proposal to the Univeristy Grant Commission (UGC) of India” . – The official member has confirmed this update. 

The forming committee shall consider the following issues related to establishing the new departments and formulate a strategize structure for implementation of their recommendations. The workability, structure of the whole establishment of these departments is done under the faculty of Technology. 

The structure, course study, of the department are required to accomplish the qualification of the faculty members is necessary to run the entire department smoothie by conducting teaching, learning, and research in the departments. This is issued with the approval of the competent authority., as it said. 

The notification was announced by Delhi University about the B.Tech departments their only aim is “ To encourage holistic, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach in education in the central theme of the National Education Policy of 202. The University of Delhi has regulated a committee, to deliberate upon the establishment of all-three departments under the Faculty of Technology, in the emerging the ideas of Engineering & Technology.” All this information was released through the notification on 05th November, by the constitution of the committee (DU).
