Does DU have an Entrance Exam?

Yes, Delhi University (DU) takes admission to its postgraduate (PG) programs through two modes and one of them is entrance exams. The CUET-PG entrance exams are held for admission to various PG courses and this exam is held by NTA. The entrance exams are part of the admission criteria for a variety of disciplines, including the arts, sciences, commerce, law, and others.
The entrance exams are intended to assess candidates' subject knowledge, aptitude, and skills concerning the specific course for which they are applying. The formats, syllabus, and structures of the exams can differ depending on the program and department offering the course.

Candidates who wish to apply for postgraduate programs at Delhi University should visit the official DU admission portal or website for specific information on the entrance exams, application procedures, eligibility criteria, and important dates.

Delhi University also offers merit-based admissions only for those students who are pass-out from DU colleges. However, students need to match their percentage with the cut-off list released by Delhi University. DU released a cut-off list every year for various PG programs. Students who want to take direct admission to Delhi University must need to qualify for the cut-off list to fulfill the eligibility.

Admission Procedure for M.Com DU

The admission process usually involves an entrance examination (CUET-PG)  conducted by the university. Interested candidates must fill out an application form, appear for the entrance test, and complete any other required formalities as per the guidelines provided in the official admission notification. DU also takes admission on a direct merit basis (Only for DU pass-outs) and that admission comes under (category 1).

How to fill out the online registration form:

  • Select the application portal of your course, such as the DU PG Portal.
  • Students then click the "New Registration" button to create a user account as a first-time user by going to the "New Applicant Sign Up" page.
  • The Student must fill out all the details on the "Create New Account" page.
  • The students should confirm their email address and password because that will be used for admissions purposes.
  • To create a new user account, the applicant needs to click the "Register" button.
  • After registering, an email or SMS will be sent to the registered email address or phone number.
  • After registering, the students need to complete the online registration form by logging onto the PG admission portal.
  • The applicant needs to enter their "password" and "registered email-id" as their username and password under the "Registered Applicant Sign In" tab.
  • After logging in, the candidate needs to fill out the necessary information to finish the registration form.

Note: For the admission procedure, students must need to clarify the CUET- PG entrance exam with a decent score. But if the students want direct admission on a merit basis (Only for DU pass-outs)  then they don’t need to appear on the entrance exam. The CUET exam is not mandatory for the Central Universities as of now.

Selection Criteria:

The selection criteria for the M.Com program at Delhi University are divided into two categories (Category 1 & Category 2).

  • Category 1: This category held direct admission in the PG courses at Delhi University. In this category, students don’t need to take any entrance exam. They can take admission according to the merit list. This category is only available to Delhi University’s graduates.
  • Category 2: This category conducts an entrance exam for PG admission at Delhi University. Those who completed their previous academic course from another college rather than DU and wish to pursue a PG from DU, need to take an entrance test (CUET-PG). After scoring the DU cut-off list score of entrance, students can proceed to admission.
