The School of Open Learning is a UGC-approved educational institution of the University of Delhi established in the year 1962. It's a government organization where more than 5 lakh students are currently enrolled in various courses. The university offers UG and PG courses on a large scale for all sections of society with equality. The institution offers quality education for all its students enrolled in distance courses. MA is one of the most chosen master’s degree programs of the university as the average fee for this program is 9,000 (approx) rupees per course, but it may increase or decrease as per the specialization or the course type the student chooses. The institution is available in Delhi only and provides educational services through two centers North and South campuses of the university. DU SOL Distance MA Admissions 2024 (Dates Announced)

Admission to this online program in Delhi University’s School of Open Learning starts in July. The exact dates for registration & application form filling can be obtained from the official website for each new academic session. You will get the update here regarding the commencement date of online admission in DU-SOL for the 2024 batch.

The School of open learning conducts entrance tests for some courses but most of the courses are merit-based. You can apply for the same if you got good marks in your graduation degree.  Keep yourself updated with the latest news and updates using the official website of the institution.

Fee Structure of Distance MA

The fee of one specialization for an MA degree program may differ from the other. Students need to submit their fees annually or semester-wise. Students are advised to read the entire information written for the Master’s degree program’s fee structure. The fee can be only paid online mode. No other mode is allowed under any circumstances. 

The details in the fee submission form should be clear and correct as per the matriculation certificate. The process of fee refund is also mentioned in the fee structure section of the brochure. If a student withdraws his admission within 15 days of the admission, then full payment will be refunded with the deduction of rupees 500 only.

In case the student withdraws his admission within 15 days to 1 month, then the full admission fee will be refunded with the deduction of rupees 1,000 only. If the student withdraws his admission after a month, then no refund will be sanctioned. The university provides admission to various specializations in MA degrees. It includes Hindi, History, Sanskrit, and Pol. Science.  Per specialization, fees are written below:

Fee Structure for Overseas Students

The fee for the MA degree applicable for overseas students will differ from that of the fee for Indian students. The students need to register themselves with the FSR or Foreign Student Registry of the University to get admission. No student is allowed to get admission to any course without registration. 

Note: 5% of the fee is reserved for foreign students. They need to check the full details related to the course with their respective course fee.

The course fee for MA History, Sanskrit, and Pol. Science is 17,260 INR per year and the fee for MA Hindi is 17,410 INR per year. The school fees and other charges for the MA PG program are 17,260 INR and 17,410 respectively along with the university registration fee of rupees 6000 INR for the foreign students.

Comparison of Fee Structure with Other Universities

The Fee structure is comparatively low against other universities. Some universities also provide low-fee courses like IGNOU, but DU is known for its improved and updated education quality for all the courses. For instance: the program fee for an MA in IGNOU is around 11,000 (approx) INR whereas at DU SOL it is 9,000 (approx) depending upon the specialization INR which is relatively low compared to IGNOU.

Who is Eligible for School of Open Learning Admissions?

UG Courses

  • 10+2 from a recognized Education Board
  • A minimum of 45-50% marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Basic Knowledge of the English language.

PG Courses

  • Graduation from a recognized university.
  • At least 45-50% marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Must have studied the English language at 10+2 or graduation level.

Note: For some courses, the university might conduct an entrance exam & the eligibility will also depend on the scores of that exam.
